Good morning,

As has become our tradition, today we honor the memories 30 of the  2,977 victims who died in the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks 25 years ago today.

All had ties to Newton, Needham, Wellesley or (added to our list this year) Brookline. We're not aware of anyone from Watertown who died in the attacks.

Christine Barbuto, 32, was a buyer for TJX Companies and lived in Brookline. Born in Peabody, she was en route to Los Angeles on a buying trip when she died aboard American Airlines Flight 11.

Mark Bavis, a Roslindale native who had recently moved to West Newton, was a hockey star at Catholic Memorial High School. He was on board United Airlines Flight 175.

Susan L. Blair, 35. A graduate of Needham High who worked as a team leader for Aon on the 92nd floor of the World Trade Center and lived in East Brunswick, NJ.

Kelly Ann Booms, 24, worked as an accountant for PricewaterhouseCoopers and lived in Brookline. A recent Miami University graduate who'd just passed her CPA exam, she was aboard American Airlines Flight 11 on a temporary work assignment to California.

John Cahill, 56, of Wellesley (born in Brookline), was a retired employee of Xerox and was en route to California to do some work on his new consulting business and visit a friend when he perished aboard United Flight 175.

Neilie Heffernan Casey, 32, of Wellesley, a merchandise planning manager for TJX Co. had just returned to work in July from a maternity leave after giving birth to her then 7-month-old daughter Riley. She ran the Komen Race for the (breast cancer) Cure the Sunday before with her husband and Riley in a baby jogger.

Paige Farley-Hackel, 46, was a writer and motivational speaker from Newton and was developing a new radio program titled "Spiritually Speaking." She was on board American Airlines Flight 11, heading to California to visit Disneyland with her best friend.

Karleton Fyfe, 31, was a senior analyst at John Hancock and lived in Brookline with his wife and 1-year-old son. He was aboard American Airlines Flight 11 on a business trip.

Edmund Glazer, 41, was vice president of finance and administration and chief financial officer of MRV Communications and lived in Wellesley with his wife and young son. He was on board American Airlines Flight 11 to MRV headquarters.

Lisa Fenn Gordenstein, 41, was an assistant vice president of the TJX Companies and lived in Needham with her husband and two daughters. She graduated Brookline High School in 1977. She was a passenger on American Flight 11 on a business trip.

Eric Hartono, originally from Indonesia, attended Newbury College in Brookline before moving to Los Angeles. In September, he came back to Boston to visit his girlfriend and returned to California on United Airlines Flight 175.

Nicholas Humber, 60, a resident of Auburndale. He was one of the first employees of the Environmental Protection Agency in 1971, and was instrumental in starting its waste management division. He was on American Airlines Flight 11.

Aaron Jacobs died at the World Trade Center at the age of 27. He was vice president and partner on the international trading desk at Cantor Fitzgerald. His parents, Alice and Laurence Jacobs lived in Waban.

Ariel Louis Jacobs, 29, was a newlywed, an expectant father, chief of U.S. Operations of Caplin Systems, and the brother of Newton-resident Claudia Jacobs when he died in the World Trade Center. His first and only child was born six days after his death.

Danny Lewin, 31, co-founded Akamai Technologies and lived in Brookline. He died on board American Airlines Flight 11 and by several accounts was the first person killed in the Sept. 11 attacks. He left behind his wife and two young sons.

Ruth Clifford McCourt, 45, and her 4-year-old daughter, Juliana, were Newton natives who died aboard United Flight 175. Ruth and her husband, David, lived in Newton — she ran a beauty business with a Newton Highlands connection — before the family moved to New London, Conn., a few years earlier. Juliana was the youngest person killed on 9/11. Ruth was a close friend of Paige Farley-Hackel, who died the same morning on Flight 11.

Thomas McGuinness, Jr. was the co-pilot of Flight 11 and worked for American Airlines. Born in Needham, he lived in Portsmouth, NH, with his wife and two children.

Stuart Meltzer, 32, grew up in Newton Highlands and moved to Long Island not long before his death. He was remembered fondly by teachers and coaches at the Rivers School in Weston. He worked for Cantor Fitzgerald Trade Spark Division, with offices in the World Trade Center.

Jean, 55, and Don Peterson, 66, of Spring Lake, N.J. Jean was a retired nurse and nursing teacher, church and community volunteer. Don was a retired president at Continental Electric Co. and a church and community volunteer. Jean and Don were visiting their daughter, Jen Price, principal of Newton North High School, before flying on United Flight 93.

Patrick J. Quigley IV, 40, of Wellesley, was a partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers and was on Flight 175 on Sept. 11. He left behind his wife, 6-year-old daughter Rachel and daughter Leah, who was born a month after he passed.

David Retik, 33, was the general partner and founding member of Alta Communications and lived in Needham with his wife, Susan. A native of Weston, David met Susan at Colgate University, where they both studied. They had two children and were expecting a third at the time of his death. David was on board Flight 11.

Richard Ross, 58, a resident of Oak Hill. A businessman, he moved to Newton 22 years earlier and had run a travel agency and a copy machine sales business before founding the Ross Group. He died on board American Airlines Flight 11.

Rahma Salie, 28, a graduate of Wellesley College, was chief operating officer of Cinoni, and Michael Theodoridis, 32, a graduate of Boston University, was a technology consultant in Cambridge, Mass. They lived on the outskirts of Boston and were passengers on American Airlines Flight 11 on Sept. 11, on their way to a wedding in California. Their parents, Haleema and Ysuff Salie, were Newton residents for many years.

Clarin Siegel Schwartz, 51, was a tax lawyer and senior vice president at Aon Consulting Inc. in the World Trade Center. She was also a 1967 graduate of Newton South High School.

Amy Toyen, 24, grew up in Avon, Conn., and moved to Newton in 1999. She was planning to get married in 2002. She was on the 106th floor of the World Trade Center at a trade show for her company, Thomson Financial.

Manuel Del Valle Jr. , 37, Brookline native and 1988 Brookline High graduate. His mother and stepfather lived in town. A bench in his memory sits at Brookline Fire Station 5. He was an FDNY firefighter with Engine 5, living in the Bronx, and was one of the first responders into the North Tower.

Also of note

Gerard P. Dewan — A West Roxbury native and NYC firefighter, one of the first responders on 9/11. His brother served for years as a Brookline firefighter.

We also honor those who died later from illnesses caused by toxic dust and debris at Ground Zero. Their number now exceeds those killed on 9/11 itself
