We've lost a member of our chamber community

Rose Lacroix, 36, an employee of the Elizabeth Seton Residence Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Wellesley Hills, was murdered on Mon. June 30 in what appears to be a domestic violence incident.

“Rose was a beloved member of our nursing team, whose compassion and care for others was evident in her work as a Certified Nursing Assistant,” Elizabeth Seton Residence, a ministry of the Sisters of Charity and a chamber member nonprofit, said in a statement.

“Her patients consistently complimented her kindness, noting the attention she paid to their comfort, dignity, and safety. For someone with such a promising future and hopes of advancing her healthcare career, it is all the more shocking that we lost Rose to such violence the night after she finished a shift of tending to others.”

Lacroix was born in Haiti and arrived in the U.S. in 2023 with one goal: to create a better future for her family. Back home in Haiti, her young son, Jayden, and aging mother depended on her love and financial support.

“Rose didn’t waste a single moment. She learned English, studied hard, earned her CNA license, and quickly found employment at the Elizabeth Seton Residence—a place she called a blessing. She often said it was more than a job; it was a community where she could grow, serve others, and chase her dreams.

“Despite challenges, Rose always gave everything she had. She worked multiple jobs to provide for her son, never complained, and never gave up. She was a woman of grace, humility, and sacrifice.

“Now, her 9-year-old son is left behind—motherless, vulnerable, and without the pillar that held his world together. Her mother in Haiti grieves from afar. And her friends, coworkers, and community mourn the loss of a light that was stolen far too soon.”

The team at Elizabeth Seton Residence has started a Go Fund Me page to support her brother, Lacroix’s only family here in the US, to pay for her funeral, and to support for her 9-year-old son and her mother.
